This full-day tour provides a journey to two castles, one of which is listed on the UNESCO Heritage List. A cathedral is also on the UNESCO Heritage list. Still, it also (from 1st April till 30th September) includes a visit to a dynamic Viking ship museum—a showcase of the rich sailing heritage of the Danish and Scandinavian Vikings.

Our knowledgeable, English-speaking guides will provide a fully guided tour of Kronborg Castle and Roskilde Cathedral. And with a twinkle in the eyes of our excellent driver and guide, we will strike a balanced narrative. In the summer, don’t miss the Viking Ship Museum situated on the edge of the fjord (bay) of Roskilde. Begin the day on Roskilde. Here our experienced guide will take you on tour of the Roskilde Cathedral, gaining insights into its history and observing some of Denmark’s most distinctive Christian monarchs.

From Roskilde to the next stop, the town of Hillerod in the heart of Northen Zealand, you be driving to the rural bugling landscape left by the ice cap that covered Denmark 10000 years ago. Nowadays, it is a scenic landscape with rich farmland.

Upon reaching the town of Hillerod, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the incredible renaissance architecture of Frederiksborg Palace at your own pace. With its opulent interior which will overwhelm most, just as it was intended.

While in Hillerod, you can enjoy lunch at a local café or indulge in a sandwich or maybe some Danish pastries from the nearby bakery. Take in the picturesque view of the lake surrounding Frederiksborg Palace as you dine.

As you journey from Hillrod, the tour will traverse the beautiful North Zealand landscape, featuring forests and charming villages to the final stop of the day, the Kronborg Castle in Elsinore.

Kronborg – the authentic castle of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Kronborg. At Kronborg, you’ll delve into Danish history, spanning from the Kalmar Union to the end of the dual monarchy of Denmark-Norway, predating the mid-1900s. While walking through the most talked about castle from the 1600s century that it inspired Shakespear to write Hamlet and impressing all of Europe with its architecture and engineering at that time.

From for most hotels in the central part of Copenhagen and the cruise terminal, we provide pickup and drop-off services, which is included in the fare.

Please note that pickups are not possible at hotels without parking or private accommodations. Alternatively, we offer a central location at the Central Station near City Hall Square. If pickup cannot be arranged at your chosen accommodation, we’ll suggest convenient alternatives.

You have the flexibility to book your seat on the bus or decide on the spot, allowing you to discover the exciting people you’ll be sharing the tour with.

Our small tour bus, accommodating 14–15 guests, provides complimentary water, napkins, and free Wi-Fi. The air-conditioned interior ensures your comfort during warmer periods, and heating is available in colder seasons.

The tour is fully guided at Roskilde Cathedral and Kronborg Castle. A semi-guide tour of the Vikingship Museum is provided in summer only.

Prepare for a day filled with activity, as you’ll surpass ten thousand steps, navigating spiral staircases in medieval castles, cobblestone-covered streets, and walkways. Embrace the fresh air along the way, remembering the Danish saying: “There is no bad weather, just the wrong clothing!”

Lunch is not included, but we’re happy to assist you in finding a nice local café serving both Danish and international lunch classics. Alternatively, we can direct you to a local Danish-style bakery offering delicious sandwiches and, of course, Danish pastries.

This tour may not be suitable for everybody, as some aspects require significant physical activity and may not be fully accessible:

Limited Visibility or Blindness:

While we welcome individuals with visual impairments on the tour, please ensure you bring your own seeing accompanying guide, as our guides may not be able to provide direct assistance.

Mobility Challenges:

Due to substantial walking, approximately 10,000 steps, and the presence of stairs, including spiral staircases in medieval castles, cobblestone-covered streets, and walkways, individuals with walking impairments, slow walkers, or those using a cane for more than just security are advised against choosing this tour.

Wheelchair, Walking Frame, or Rollator Users:

Individuals relying on a wheelchair, walking frame, or rollator are strongly discouraged from selecting this tour. The nature of the sites and the tour may not accommodate these mobility aids, and the driver reserves the right to refuse participation. No refund will be granted in such cases.

We prioritize the safety and comfort of all participants, and we appreciate your understanding in adhering to these recommendations. If you have specific concerns or inquiries, please feel free to contact us for further assistance.

Important Information:

Pickup times and locations will be communicated via email no later than 48 hours before the booked, paid, and confirmed tour. Additionally, you will be encouraged to join the tour’s individual QR group code for real-time updates during the tour.

To fully enjoy the tour, it is recommended for guests to understand English, as the tour is guided in English only.

For a more personal experience in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, the tour group will consist of no more than 15 guests all seated in our minibus where you can book your preferred seating.

Due to the tight schedule of this full-day tour, it is crucial to adhere to the timetable presented by our guide. Deviations from the schedule may result in adjustments to accommodate the closing hours of the attractions.

The tour is fully guided at two sites (Kronborg and Roskilde Cathedral). At the other two locations, a brief introduction will be provided, allowing you to explore the site at your own pace.

Expect to take around ten thousand steps during this tour, providing a good cardio exercise. With a mix of walking on cobblestones, slight inclines, and old winding medieval stairs, only the very hardcore will head for the gym at days end. Individuals with minor walking issues can find designated rest areas while the rest of the group continues the tour.

Please be aware that the tour sequence may be subject to change due to seasonal opening hours or non-public events at the locations, primarily affecting Kronborg Castle and Roskilde Cathedral.

Advice on “dress-code”

Get the right clothing for the day. As the Danes say, “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!”

Check the weather forecast. As we will be both inside and outside on this tour.

And a must is wearing shoes that are fit for walking.
